I want to capture some old vhs tapes and turn them into avi or ogg files.
my system has no problems playing the video i can get the picture up on screen and the sound running via line 1 no worrys but how do i capture it ok vlc has a record function but how do i map the audio to line 1. Where is the log vlc refers to.

ucview seams to have a bug and crashes as soon as i even enable audio capture?in its preferences there are audio options but it does show up to try to select any.

If you are having trouble with audio recording, it's generally recommended that you disable pulseaudio. Many audio recording apps are still not able to work with pulseaudio.

You can do this in Mandriva Control Center -> Hardware -> Sound Configuration -> Uncheck Enable PulseAudio
A reboot is required before it takes effect.
