Bootloader problem (NEWBZ)

Yea, i'm a complete newbie.. but i've been doing some reading and wondered if you guys could help me.. So i resized my windows partition to add more space to linux, little did i know it would overwrite the lilo bootloader and destroy my linux boot setup. Basically, i can no longer get into linux. I can use recovery console but i have to admit, i have no idea what im doing. I tried reconfiguring/installing lilo with the console but this came up:

Code:
running echo | lilo with root /mnt
run_program can not output in /root/tmp/.darkx-stderr .1512 (mode '>')
lilo failed at usr/lib/.Drakx/bootloader.pn line 1238, <STDIN> line 1
Keep in mind there may be some typos, i wrote it all down really quickly (pissed ;-)) and
may have written down some errors.

Any help with getting lilo back up and running would be appreciated! Thank you!

Do a reinstall but dont format your home partition (user)
Probably the quickest its been 2 hours now so thats what I would do specially if you dont have a lot of rpms installed since original install

Thanks man, I actually decided to use this opportunity (? haha ) to install a new, previously unused (by me) distro, Gentoo. I took a look around and Gentoo really tickled my fancy!
