ATI Radeon 9800 Pro on Mandrake 9.1

Linux newbie, need help getting my video working on 9.1. I have tried dl the latest drivers from ATI but when I run the rpm:
rpm -i --force fglrx-glc22-4.3.0-1.2.0.i586.rpm i get the following message:
taylored kernel module for fglrx not present in your system
you must go to /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod subdir and execute ./make.sh to build a fully customized kernel module.

So I do that and get:
kernal includes at /usr/src/linux/include not found or incomplete
file: /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h

Any help on getting my radeon 9800 pro working?

you're in luck since you are running Mandrake 9.1!

Go to your terminal (or console) and type 'uname -a'

Note the kernel version number you have. SHould be something like (2.21.0.13 or something)

close the terminal

Go to your control center-->Software-->Install RPM

choose to search for RPM's alphabetically.

look for 'kernel-source'

Then look for your correction version of the kernel-source file.

click the checkbox and install it. Mandrake will ask you to pop in the original 3 CD's that you installed it with.

Let us know if this works.

yes that worked..... was able to run the install
thx!

Still much harder (IMHO) than it should be just to upgrade something as basic as new video drivers!

make sure you run 'fglrxconfig' in the console after you install it to set it up.

Then go download Enemy Territory (www.castlewolfenstein.com)! Best free First Person shooter game ever!

Then make sure you set the game to run on your desktop resolution. My desktop resolution is 1024x768 but I was running the game in 800x600 and got all these graphical tearing and glitches. But once you set the game up in 1024x768, the tearing and graphical glitches go away.
