Alsa driver slowing down boot

hey, I'm just trying to make my computer boot faster on Mandrake 10.1 CE. I have used a couple tricks, including removing cups and harddrake from startup. This has helped considerably, but the only thing I noticed when watching the boot process is that it takes 5-6 seconds to load the alsa driver instead of the < 1 second it takes for all the other stuff that loads. This isn't really a problem, just an inconvienence. anybody have any clue on how to speed the load of the alsa driver up?
