Thread Tools?
I have been asked by a moderator to go to Thread Tools and mark a thread "Solved". I have also gone to the FAQ and followed the link on How to Mark a Thread Solved, and basically got the same info. The problem seems to be that when I go to Thread Tools, I do not see an option for marking the thread "Solved". In my reading I have noted that several of the things that you are able to see and use are control by the moderators. Do the moderators have to turn on something for a Newbie to mark a thread as solved.
Marking a thread as solved only works in the technical sub-fora, but not for example in non-*NIX/General.
After you were asked to mark the thread as solved I have moved it to non-*NIX/General because your question was not Linux specific.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks
I appreciate the Explanation of the Difference Between Forums in their Behavior. I couldn't believe that I was so inept as to not know how to work a drop down box.
