Lightbulb Suggestion for a citation tag

I would like to suggest a tag that would be similar to the [quote] tag, but would be used for citing other types of quotations, such as kernel source document file, a file in /usr/share/doc/packages, or a web site.

I have tried using the quote tag to make the citation stand out and to indicate that I am quoting, as in this recent post:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...63#post2645963

But the "originally posted by" description spoils the effect.

Thanks.

The code tag should do what you're looking to do.

Thank you for the prompt response. I have tried using both [quote] and [code] tags. The reason I wanted to use a [quote] like tag is to be able to have the source of the quote or code listed. I tried something like [code=/usr/share/doc/packages/samba/README] before but it didn't work.

Thanks for the feedback. I'd say that functionality is specific enough and close enough to code/quote that it's likely it won't make it into the code (we really try to avoid bloat). That being said, if demand changes in the future we'll certainly reconsider.
