Is there any Linux software that can change asset tags. We use asset tags to name computers after they have been ghosted. Just wondering if there is anything.
Seems libsmbios supports reading Asset tags: http://linux.dell.com/libsmbios/main/assetTag.html. Reading seems generic. Setting them apparently requires "dcdbas" LKM but that error only shows up when trying to set a tag. It appears to be part of the Dell OMSA (OpenManage Server Administrator) package.
Seems there's one other package dmi.*something but that only supports reading tags AFAIK.
