Registration-Quicktime on Windows 2000 using Firefox 3

I was having trouble today registering because the GUI graphics play sound button brought up the install add-on. Unfortunately the add-on is for Win XP. Even when I installed QT 7.1.6 for win2k it would not play the sound. Eventually I got the graphic into a readable form and here I am. I'm a techie but very new to Linux but I am getting there slowly.

Are you referring to registering at LQ? If so, no sound should be needed (although the captcha offers to play the words for accessibility reasons). Any further information you can provide would be beneficial. Thanks.

Yes I was registering with LQ

The sound should have played as this is part of the authentication help methodology. However, I have seen it [not] in use with other blogs so your blog like the others predisposes that Windows XP or later is being used. I suppose there is not a lot you can do about it?
