Post counting when topics moved

I have a question.

We all know that posts are not counted in General. Now here's an interesting problem I thought of which I'm not sure how it is handled.
  1. Suppose a thread in another forum is moved into "General" do the post counts go down respectively for all the people who've posted in that thread as the same number of times they've posted in that thread?
  2. Suppose a thread from "General" is moved into another forum do the post counts go up respectively for all the people who've posted in that thread as the same number of times they've posted in that thread?

I believe (but I'm not certain) that the post count is incremented only at the time that a person posts. If the thread he/she is posting to is in General, the count is not updated, if the thread is in any other forum the count is updated. If the thread is subsequently moved, the post counts are not recalculated.

As I have commented before, IMO a member's post count is largely irrelevant -- what matters is the content within the post. The quality of a reply cannot be gauged by the poster's post count. -- J.W.

Thanks for the explanation, J.W.

I understand the philosophical aspects of "post count does not really matter."

My question was, quite simply, very specific about whether moved threads between General and others, get re-counted as posts or not.
