I searched and somebody had asked about this in 2004, but nobody responded.
It seems that listing threads from the Member Intro forum as Zero Reply just clutters up the results, as almost all of the Member Intros are going to have zero replys. They don't require a response, so why list them with the threads that legitimately do need a timely response?
On the other hand, I could see how people might actually want to view the new Intros, perhaps they like to actually welcome new users to the boards.
In that case, perhaps we could at least have the option of ignoring them in the Zero Reply display?

I think that the new member introductions do need a response for psychological reasons. We should make new members feel welcome and noticed. I agree that timeliness is not important for responses to new member introductions.
I had an amusing response from a new member once which illustrates how new members look at responses to their introductions. I welcomed the new member to LinuxQuestions. The next day he replied to my welcome by complaining that of the thousands of members at LinuxQuestions only one person had replied to his introduction. He felt he had been snubbed. So how does a person feel who gets no reply to his introduction?

We do automatically omit some forums from the Zero Reply Threads, but I'd agree that welcoming a new member is important enough to include that forum. I am open to feedback on the topic, however.
