How about a "Pimp My 'Puter" Column?

How about a "Pimp My 'Puter" Column?

A lot of people ask which distrobution to use with their hardware. What about giving them, and their responders, a structured format in which to work?

I'm thinking of having some sort of template where the questioner would type in the pertinent details of his machine (so no one would have to ask how much RAM, etc.) and what they want to do with it, and what their experience level with Linux is.

Then the answerers give their suggested solutions, but with the caveat that they should (not required), defend why they chose their solutions.

in the end, those of us who know nothing about Linux could better understand some of the thought processes that go into selecting a particular distribution, and if the results are searchable by amount of RAM or CPU speed, us noobies might even get a sense of what is working out on the street.

Might even give users ideas for fantasy computers we want to build, but the advantage would be adding structure to the myriad of requests out there now.
