It's legal if you purchase it. Either way, it doesn't have anything to do with LQ itself.

Let's make something clear first. LQ.org runs off a highly modded version of vBulletin. Asking LQ to give you vBulletin is not on...

vBulletin is commercial software. Not free in any sense (either as in Free Software or freeware). Downloading it anywhere without purchasing it from vbulletin.com is piracy and note that I would report you to their piracy department (being a customer myself) if I find you've ripped off the code.

Please pay for it. It keeps a wonderful forum software in active development.
