Auto lock threads after X time without activity

Example thread I saw this morning.

Is there no way to automatically lock threads after X days from the last activity? I know nothing of how hard or easy this would be to implement. Just seems like an obviously helpful feature? Would save the mods some time as well I would think in not having to shut them down manually?

I'm sure it could be done/implemented, and can think of no reason why it couldn't be done. But of course this has been suggested dozens of times already. So I doubt Jeremy will do it this time, since he seems very much against it.

Personally I think a reasonable compromise would be to close threads that are at least 10 years old that HAVE had replies, and not close threads on the Zero Reply List or something similar.

But again, I can't see Jeremy doing it though...

That new example appears to be a spammer. Regardless of the age of the thread, or if they create their own, a spammer is going to post. The cleanup work is the same.

I should have searched first. Thank you for explaining. Makes more sense.

This has been discussed before and is not something we plan to implement. Additionally, can we reserve "spammer" to obvious mass spammers and not a new member that likely had good intentions and didn't immediately understand the norms of LQ?
