Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately spammers would probably pick up on that fairly quickly. As it stands the no URI rule is only for your very first post, which goes through much more anti-spam heuristics than all subsequent posts.

To post a URL without a link, technically all you need to do is to strip the http://www bit out of the link and your URL gets added as plain text which can be copied and pasted to the browser bar.

Slight nuisance but it's a workable solution within the framework of the rules.

That works. Unfortunately, in just about every case, by the time it's been pointed out their first post has been posted making it all moot.

Didn't want to create a new thread for this, so I decided to use this one, since it is about urls in posts....


I don't remember the threshold number of posts until one is allowed to finally post a url, but I think it is rather low. Perhaps a minimum of 30 or so posts could be considered, that way a spammer wouldn't waste time trying to post said link. Oh well, just an idea.
