I'm just wondering what the procedure is for new members and their posts. I signed up yesterday and tried to make a post in the Networking section, but a very quick message seemed to indicate something about awaiting moderator verification. I don't seem to be able to post in the "Say Hi" forum either, or send messages to any moderators to ask for help, getting the error message "you do not have permission to access this page."
I'm not sure if this message will make it through, but if it does hopefully someone can help me out.
A new members first post (welcome!) is treated as "special", mainly because we get spammed a lot. If problems persist let us know and provide as much detail as you can.

Ahh OK that makes sense. Thanks for the info. Should I repost my query to the Networking section, or can you tell if it's still pending?
If it's been caught as a false positive it just needs a moderator to make it visible. Mods normally do this fairly quickly, if you report the thread we'll have to close or remove one of them so best to wait until it's released.

Hello narcos. Welcome to Linux Questions. I deleted your first post and approved the second. The second was virtually identical except for the [ code ] formatting.

Thanks very much jschiwal. I think I posted it twice as I didn't realise moderation was going on after my first attempt, and thought my noscript plugin had messed it up. Sorry about the double post and thanks again!
Hi LQ,
I'm just wondering what the procedure is for new members and their posts. I signed up yesterday and tried to make a post in the Networking section, ...
There is another thread about "Why don't my questions get answered?" that speaks to other issues. As a new member of the Linux-user family and LinuxQuestions (LQ) community, your question might not resonate with folks who have answers for a variety of reasons. [i]How does one create a reasonable question when one has little idea about what is going on?[i]
Make sure that you subscribe to the thread for your brand new question. If someone answers, you will then get an email notice. If you no notice happens after a while, you might need to try and repackage your question -- more details, different description, etc. Try to discover, anticipate, guess what sort of configuration details might be involved. Sadly, You may have asked the wrong question.
Lastly, make a note that you asked a question here. Then if you find an answer or create a work-around, return to LQ and post links and details for your solution. It is okay to close your own question.
