Managed to get it to work for me on latest stable pmOS (
Generic x86_64 EFI System) like so:
- Download the image, and extract it.
- Convert it to VDI format. I did it like so: (substitute the img name with your downloaded one)

vboxmanage convertfromraw 20250521-0105-postmarketOS-v24.12-phosh-22.5-generic-x86_64-lts.img pmos.vdi --format VDI
- Create a new VM. I used Arch Linux x64 as my preset. Instead of creating a new hard disk, choose to use existing and point it to the converted VDI file in the previous step (pmos.vdi).
- Before running the VM, edit it and enable EFI first by going to Settings -> System -> Motherboard -> Enable EFI (special OSes only).
- If you want more than just the terminal, also go to Display and enable 3D Acceleration, then push the Video Memory slider to max.
- Save, then boot the machine.
I get some errors and warnings in the VM POST screen, but everything boots correctly nonetheless. I have some lag and tearing but it works.
Ran this from Linux Mint 20 using an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU. VirtualBox version 6.1.
