I'd like to make an observation about Linux, Slackware, and this forum in particular, from the perspective of a computer (read: Windows) literate person.
Granted, I don't have my machine fully configured with all of the bells and whistles, YET...
But I have read many of the posts on this, and other forums, about why a newbie should'nt begin with Slackware, etc.
So far, relying heavily upon the howto's, and the many excellent posts here and on other Linux forums, I have been able to get a basic working system up and running with no problems that have not been remedied by asking a question or two, reading, and having a little faith. As a newbie, I'd say that it has been relatively easy so far. I know that the next few tasks will be harder, but I am confident that with all of the good documentation out there, and a place like this to come to, I'll get there!
Thanks for making this a pleasant experience. One thing is for sure, I cannot remember feeling this good after configuring a printer, wheel mouse, or a cd-rom, in windows of any flavor!!!
