Yup, that's me! The book was originally published chapter by chapter in Linux Forums.

PS: notKlaatu, I just looked you up. I'm awed to know you work for Weta. Were you involved in any way with Lord of the Rings?

Welcome, Hazel
I've just read through all the posts on this thread. I wasn't aware that a lot of fora stipulate 'no religion, no politics', and I think that LQ would be all the poorer if those rules applied here. It's handled very well by allowing those subjects in topical threads, and the Religion Mega thread has tested the faith, both for or against religion, of several posters - very entertaining!
It's interesting how many people on LQ are in the UK

Yes, there are definitely more here than at the Forums. It's a pity the site software doesn't seem to recognise this. I've opted for the use of UK time, but it doesn't seem to affect the display of times of posting.

btw I've been impressed with your measured contributions to the faith and religion thread. I am a Christian myself, but I prefer to stay out of such cat-fights.

Where, specifically, are you not seeing the correct date format? It seems to work as expected for me.

Sorry, misunderstanding! I realise now that the posting times are indeed correct for London time. They just look weird to me because most of the posters are in the US, and so they appear to be most active in the middle of last night.

Hi hazel! (I started on computers in 1969: Fortran [college EE class]; punch-cards! I added the option to print-out the *assembly* language version of my program & was 'hooked'!)

Is you book "Public Domain" [free]? (I'd love to read it [at a California library] )
I found this: EVIL: pdfbookdownloadfree.EVIL/the-c...x_1846607.html
but in the past, sites like this are SCAMs (or worse [viruses, fatal to my poor ol' XP])!

p.s. I wanted to show you my *joking* [general] post (Idk how, except to link it here)
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...p?t=4175584575
(I think maybe my 1st step would be to: put something like grub [or *less*] on a [4M!?] blank disk [.vdi] &maybe 'treat'? it as a .iso!)
My 'goal' is: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...9/#post5566395

'ttyl'! [tYPE tO yOU lATER]

Last edited by Jjanel; 07-15-2016 at 02:19 AM. Reason: to 'kill' that URL: that pdf book dl site WAS bad stuff! I had to yank the powercord from my poor ol' XP Firefox!

It has a Creative Commons CC BY-ND 3.0 licence. It seemed appropriate in view of the subject matter.

I didn't publish a PDF version so I have no idea what you would get from the site you mentioned. Probably something nasty.
