A first post usually consist of a question and a very long time of waiting, as people, for good reasons, are suspicious of first posts. So I thought I take different approach for a change.
I'm a long time GNU/Linux fan, though I'm not as talented in the area as I'd like to be. It's more a matter of time than will really, but more on that at another time.
My favourite distributions are Debian, GNewSense, when it reaches 3.0 and not least Gentoo.
My goal in life at this time, is getting Gentoo, (64 bit/non-multilib) up and running on my brand new Asus Eee PC 1015PEM with a minimalistic GUI, probably FluxBox, maybe a local webserver for web development on the run, and so on and so forth. I also plan to install one of those UBER SSDs, as soon as I can afford it, hoping that I may achieve that one pico second boot time. Why you ask? For no particular reason. Just think it would be cool.
It should be noted that I've already tried, and failed, to install Gentoo twice, so you can expect a lot of questions in the future.
I really can't think of anything more to say on the subject, but don't worry. I've got far too many project and far too little time, so you'll get tired of my questions soon enough.
Other than that, there seem to be a lot of activity on this forum, which is nice, as I've already been through a few other fora where that wasn't the case, and I look forward to bothering you all with a continuous stream of both stupid and clever questions, and if I'm able to, I'll be sure to throw in a few answers as well.
I was in the same boat as you when I first started, except that I use Slackware rather than Gentoo. A year and a half later now having used this forum almost exclusively for my Linux needs, I can confidently say that I'm now lightyears beyond where I was when I started, all thanks to the great people here.

Welcome to the boards!
Thanks for the welcome. It's much appreciated.
