Got fed up with Windows 8.1 updates that failed on my machine with no recourse from Microsoft, so I installed Linux Mint after lots of reading. My hardware:
OS: LinuxMint 16, Gnome 3.8.4
Laptop: Lenovo G505s w AMD quad core and 4GB memory
Printer: Brother MFC-J825DW
All is working fine. Occasionally I have questions from more experienced users, hence this fine user community.
