Hello,
I took a Linux class a few years ago and barely passed it. Much harder than the Windows class I took, but much more interesting as well. I remember the instructor whose been familiar with Linux for around 30 years stating, he didn't consider himself an expert and shyed away from calling anyone a "Linux Expert."
Anyway, I've been on this planet a few years and have purchased computers long enough to notice a particular OS that I'm accustomed to becoming nearly nonfunctional and/or making your hardware obsolete a few years after purchase; just in time for the latest OS and subsequent faster processors, larger RAM, etc. to become available.
So, I'm here both as a hobby and to save myself from having to buy a new computer every three to five years.
I can relate, Linux is partly the reason why I can still keep my seven year old laptop running as snappy as when I first received it.
Regards...
Good to know. That's very much encouraging. I'm hoping I won't have too much trouble with my ASUS netbook with one Gig of RAM.
I wanted to PM you, but didn't see it as an option on your profile. Is there no PMing here?
God bless, either way.

Hi...
And may God bless you, too! No, I think in order to PM, you have to have a certain number of posts, unfortunately, I don't know what that number is.
Just FYI, with a gig of memory, I would go with a more lightweight distribution, perhaps something like Zorin 9 Lite,MX-14, or Lubuntu, to name a few.
Regards...

Reason: Corrections.
I was going with Zorin 9 Lite; I like that its made for beginners. So far not having a good time typing with it though. Having trouble setting partitions. Set "/" at 200000 and swap at 50000; installation failed.
Everytime I type cursor jumps across screen
Note: Installing ISO from Hard Disk; no USB or CD. Will probably try to install from USB later. No disc drive.
