Hello from New Hampshire
Long in the tooth Systems engineer working for a wireless networking company in Waltham, Mass.
I first got into Linux in 1994 when I was in Healthcare. I was challenged to make a way for nurses to access policy and procedure manuals from PCs and Meditech terminals with special chips in them to allow access to telnet sessions. I was a member of a freenet in Fredericton, NB, Canada and they were using Lynx so I decided to try that package and make the manuals HTML based.
Another IT staff member and I cobbled together a PC called Franky (short for Frankenstein...parts from everywhere. IT'S ALIVE!). It worked like a charm and I was hooked.
Still am. I am amazed at how Linux has taken off and still maintained the open source attitude. I am still amazed how Linux people treat each other, whenever I meet another person that is heavily into Linux, there is this openness. Linux people are quick to help each other out.
