Hello folks

I am a retired aerospace engineer whose hobbies include RC model aircraft. While growing up so to speak on balsa and doped tissue I found using blue foam so much quicker and more usefull for my large experimental designs. So I designed and built a cnc foamcutter. Once that was working I went on to design a Z axis mechanism so i could use one of the XY systems horizontally to work like a router. I am waiing funds for more drivers and stepper motors. For hot wire cutting I use Foamworks on XP (it won't run on Linux) and Linux Ubunti for Meshcam (this won't run on XP). While Linux is fine for Meshcam I have to say that I don't find it very intuitive and am not tempted to use it as a main operating system. I accept that XP is constantly interupting and this manifsts itself in stuttering at the stepper motors. So Linux would be the way to go if only more software was available for my kind of stuff! I am not particularly looking for help just now but just introiducing myself. I will be following the posts for a while to see what sort of problems others get into.
Regards
FC

Linux also constantly interrupts application programs. The difference between Windows and Linux is that Linux allocates resources much more efficiently and intelligently than Windows does.

Any thoughts of using wine to try and run the programs you need under linux ? Just some food for thought.
