If there were a category for super-newbie, I'd be it, so I'm sorry in advance for knowing absolutely nothing about linux (except the cd command...haha) but anyway...I'm running Fedora (Fedora Core 2) on my laptop computer, and I would (extremely) like to get my wireless internet working on it! I have a WPC11 version 4 wireless card, and to be honest, I have absolutely no idea where to start. I did try something: I found out this card runs on RTL8180L drivers (I think...) so I went to the realtek site and downloaded the drivers for linux (Kernel 2.4.20) [on my PC, of course...] transfered them to my laptop via CD-RW, then tried running a "make all" once I was in the right directory...to no avail. All I got was the terminal spitting out a few hundred lines of errors, like "/usr/src/linux-2.6.5-1.358/include/linux/sched.h: 205: error: storage size of 'mmap_sum' isn't known" and all sorts of other errors. It ends with
make: *** [r8180_pci_init.o] Error 1.
Sigh, remeber this is literally my first day with Linux! And I'm sure there will be many more, if I could only get my internet working
Thank you so much in advance for your time, Cody
