pre22 solves a lot of Fedora Core 2 problems. You shouldn't need to recompile / custom make a kernel, just have the appropriate "development tools" -kernel source, gcc, etc... all useful things to have anyway.

pre21 was a little trickier, and there was a page here...it'll stay for the time being.

i use Fedora Core 3 test 2 ,i have being trying to use Wlan with my notebook

A little advice if you are in the /usr/src/linux folder ,first open the MAKEFILE and change the version number

and type

(make dep <-- not needed any more)make clean bzImage modules modules_install <--after that type

make install <--and your new kernel will be installed where you need it

after that you should read http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/w...p/Installation

i have installed the ndiswrapper module with the WinXP drivers under Fedora Core 3 ,my only prob is that i can not connect to the Public Wlan HotSpot ,the HotSpot dont use any encryption ,i dont know how to see the Channel who is used for the HotSpot ,and dont know how to connect to it ,if i type a wlist wlan0 scan i see the acces point

if you use ndiswrapper and you have connected your Notebook to an acces point please let me know how you realized it

Forgive my englisch

thanks

CNET-USB611 not detected

Hi:
I have the Cnet-611 usb dongle wifi adapter. I have installed the wlan pre22 driver under Fedora Core 2, but when I plug the device and "tail" /var/log/messages, it doesn't say anything about the device "X" having been recognised by the prism2_usb driver. Should it say anything?
The second thing is that I can't find the file modules.conf under /etc, only modprobe.conf is available. I have added the "alias wlan0 prism2_usb" string to this file, will it do?
Furthermore, when I run the "wlan-ng wlan0..." command (or similar, I usually copy and paste it from the wlan readme file, I can't remember now) it says "no such device", that is, no wlan0 device detected. Is that due to the modules.conf thing, to not saying anything about the driver recognizing the device or to both?

Thanx in advance, I want the network to run on Fedora, I'm fed up with XP and want to remove it.

Bye

Hi:
I would like to know, at least, what should /var/log/messages say when the usb dongle is plugged in and wlan sets it up. Mine doesn't say anything about the driver "seeing" the usb dongle. Should it or it doesn't matter?

It would be quite helpful for me if somebody posted their /var/log/messages log when they plug the dongle in.
Thanks in advance
