PCMCIA Wireless Card with RH9

Hi everyone

I'm having some troubles getting a Conceptronic C54C Wireless PCMCIA Card to work on my Compaq Presario 2505 using Red Hat 9.

I managed to compile the madwifi drivers (sorry, I cannot post the URL yet ) by rebuilding the kernel as suggested by several HOWTOs, but when I try to install the three modules it generates, wlan, ath_hal and ath_pci I get this message with the last one:

[root@76-228-175-62 salva]# /sbin/modprobe ath_pci
/lib/modules/2.4.20-8c/net/ath_pci.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.20-8c/net/ath_pci.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-8c/net/ath_pci.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20-8c/net/ath_pci.o: insmod ath_pci failed

The kernel has PCMCIA support enabled, but lspci won't show the card no matter if I plug it before botting the computer up or while ths system is running. I am not sure how to find if cardmgr is running, but it doesn't appear when I use lsmod.

If somebody could give me a hand, that would be great.

Thanks

Ok, I found that cardmgr is not running, by using redhat-config-services.

How can I make it start at boot up?

Again, ANY help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Hi sslinx

I'm not sure it will help but It did worked for me by installing Mandrake with the card in...

Than I noticed I was needing pcsc, wireless-tools and pcmcia-something (I don't remember, I'll try to find out later).

I also found this web helpful:

http://madwifiwiki.thewebhost.de/wik...cC54COnRedHat9

good luck!
