Unhappy No recognition of Belkin wireless G notebook card on laptop. Model F5D7011

I have no recognition of my Belkin wireless G notebook card model F5D7011 Ver.1102uk. No drivers seem to be available for linux. I have Kubuntu 7.04 installed on my laptop. I am an absolute linux virgin, so please be clear with any answers. Many thanks.

Hi, try installing ndiswrapper and then using the windows driver; not the best solution, but a viable one...
In order to install the windows driver, just follow this guide.
Something more from ndiswrapper page :
Quote:
Download the exe, unzip it with “unzip -a” and use the bcmwl5.inf in directory AR.
Good luck

Hi - I just ran across this and was happy to see the clear instructions - but as always in the open-source world, there are more choices at every turn. When I went to the site to download the windows driver, I noticed that they offer a native linux driver for kernel 2.6.x - it has scripts to make it and load and unload, but I'm wondering if I'm not asking for trouble by trying this. I have gone through the ndiswrapper thing a couple of times and am more familiar with it, so more comfortable, but wouldn't a native driver be faster? Are there other problems I would create trying to load a native driver?

never mind

I plucked up my courage and tried to install the native driver, but am getting many error messages, so I will continue with ndiswrapper.

Just to bring closure, I had no problem installing the realtek driver for my Belkin, which was a F5D7010. Realtek had the right driver, and it works very well, even lighting up the lights on the card (something the Ubuntu driver didn't do for my Blitz card, although it worked fine while it lasted). The one hitch for me was that after installing it, nobody said anything, but it didn't work until I rebooted. I decided to just see if that would do it, and since then everything has worked fine!
