Hi Ostego,
I'm a bit of noobie myself, but have been down this road. The DWL-G520 uses the Atheros 5212 chipset which is supported by the madwifi drivers (
http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/madwifi). You will need at least kernel headers and probably source in order to compile and use madwifi. You also need to download/install wireless-tools (google that, but it might be on your rpmdrake) in order to then configure your card.
Help in finding/installing kernel source etc is best obtained from someone other than me.
Once you have the drivers installed, reboot and su to root
Then type 'iwconfig ath0' (ath0 is the device name for your card; like eth0). You'll hopefully see a bunch of output. If you get "ath0: no wireless extensions" something went wrong - most likely the module didn't load correctly on boot. 'modprobe ath_pci' might fix that.
Some usage examples:
iwconfig ath0 ESSID "Foobar"
-to tell the card to connect to SSID Foobar
iwconfig ath0 KEY 0123456789
-to connect using this all-too-common wep key
Your DSL gateway likely has no wep key at all and so you can probably just type
iwconfig ath0 ESSID "ANY"
and when you again type
iwconfig ath0
you should see that your card has associated with your access-point (it's MAC address will be listed if successful). If DHCP is set up correctly (check the entry in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ath0) it should also have acquired an IP address and default gateway.
Here's some more prior art that I relied on:

I have also had some luck with NDISWRAPPER (again on sourceforge)
Cheers,
