New to configuring wireless in linux

I have successfully managed to create the wireless connection in Fedora Core 2 using Kernel 2.6.5.1 but i have upgraded to 2.6.8.1 and now i am stuck.

I have been able to install the windows xp drivers for my Linksys wireless card once more but when i get up to the point of using Modprobe to get the ndiswrapper thing done however it comes up with an error.

I am using ndiswrapper-0.11

./ndiswrapper - i /mnt/cdrom1/Drivers/bcmw15.inf
./ndiswrapper - l
Installed Drivers:
bcmw15 present.hardware present

after that i do modprobe ndiswrapper and i get stuck.
if anyone has any thoughts or ideas how to help.

You say 'it comes up with an error' but you don't say what the error is. Modprobe is a command which loads kernel modules into the kernel space. The module must exist as 'ndiswrapper.ko' on the disk, built for your specific kernel, and it must be referenced correctly in /etc/modules.conf' and it must load correctly into the kernel. In other words there are lots of things which could be wrong but we need more info.

Use the command 'dmesg' to see recent kernel errors. Use the command 'lsmod' to see if the module was already loaded (you only need to load it once).

Type 'ifconfig -a' to see if your network adaptor has been registered successfully (once the ndwrapper module has loaded).

Hope this is helpful - more details please!
