Netgear WG511 not coming up during boot but comes up OK with ifup after boot.

Hi, I'm a newb Fedora Core 3 user.

I've successfully got the Netgear WG511 to work during normal operation (using ifup eth0 or by using the network hardware dialogue) but when I reboot, eth0 is not brought up. The error I get is below
Code:
Apr 29 19:23:37 media portmap: portmap startup succeeded
Apr 29 19:23:34 media ifup: SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory
Apr 29 19:23:34 media ifup: Failed to bring up eth0.
Apr 29 19:23:34 media network: Bringing up interface eth0: failed
If I then try "ifup eth0", it works, and gives the message
Code:
RTNETLINK answers: File exists
Can anyone suggest what's going wrong?

Any help much appreciated!

Is this startup stuff controlled by a script? Which one? Perhaps its using a different command from ifup.
