Netgear vs Compex wireless adapter

I am considering installing either Mepis or Mandrake, I now have a setup using Linksys with three computers. The computer that I want to install Linux on has the wusb 802.11b instant wireless adapter, I cannot get this adapter to work with any live distro that I have tried and I've tried a few.

I want to use another adapter on this computer and I am thinking about either the Netgear MA111 or the Compex WLU 11A. My question is would either of these adapters work with Linux and which one would be the better choice. Many thanks.

Hi zathrus,

I have no experience of Mepis but I can tell you that you would need a modified live cd to get these cards to work as they will probably require Windows versions of the driver to run emulated using the ndiswrapper program. Mandrake has very good support for wireless as this posting can confirm. I would go with that or Suse if you want to make things easy on yourself.
Regards
Chris

The Netgear MA 111 should work with the wlan-ng driver.
