Need help with Linksys WRT54GL

I have had a working DSL internet connection under Suse 9.3 using pppoe.
I just bought a Linksys WRT54GL and got it working in WinXP, and would like to get it working in Suse. This router is supposed to have Linux support... All I had to do in WinXP was open a browser and type in 192.168.1.1 to configure it.
That didn't work in Suse. How do I get it working in Suse? I tried using Yast but I can't figure it out.
Could someone help me? Do i have to load something into the kernel somehow?

What isn't working? Does it not find the page or do you see the login window?

It does not see the page. Page not found, as if I am trying to load a page on the internet.

I have a GX, and the inbuilt Web server only seems to work with IE. F/F won't render the pages correctly so I can get logged in - even in Windoze. Might work if you "spoof" the client to look like IE. Personally I haven't bothered - I do all the admin from XP.
Other browsers may work better - again, I haven't tried.

Are you certain it's 192.168.1.1? Mine ends in 0.1

My GX uses 1.1 - my old D-Link used 0.1
Handy actually as I had both running for a while.

Did you try giving a static IP address in the range 192.168.1.x with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and set the default gateway as the router's IP address ?

Is DHCP running on the router ? Did the windows OS get the IP address and other network information dynamically or did you statically enter the network info like IP address, subnet mask etc ?

Yes, I'm certain. I just booted into Winxp and checked it again. It is exactly what I typed above.

Here's what I tried this morning: I tried booting into Suse as root. I then opened Firefox and typed the above. I should get a window that allows me to type in a password, but I didn't. I got a page that said "Connection refused."

I tried Konqueror, too. It didn't work.

digen, I didn't really understand half of what you wrote :-) but I can tell you this: when I plugged it into my WinXP configuration all i did was type the above into Firefox and I was able to configure the router.

In Suse, I'm dead in the water... I can't get anywhwere to do anything. What I could do, if this would help, is go into WinXP and write down all of the settings I can find there...

Here's the setup that worked before I plugged in the router:
In Suse, my ethernet card connects via cable to a dsl modem. I have to use pppoe to connect. And it worked beautifully.

I now have the router in between the dsl modem and my computer ethernet card, just like it is in WinXP. I'm not even at the point of doing anything wireless: my normal wired connection is not traveling through the router and I'm not able to talk to the router to tell it what to do.
