IP config problem on laptop wifi port (ip2100) - Debian Etch/KDE

I have an old Sony laptop with built in eth and wifi ports. I am connecting to a home network via dlink router and comcast. The hardwire port works fine for SMB and IP. The wireless port is apparently misconfigured as I cannot get an IP connection thru it - but I do have a good signal according to kwireless monitor. Output from route, ipconfig, iwconfig are below. I am using Debian Etch w/KDE.
Any advice appreciated... Thanks.
Code:

that particular output looks fine to me,

can you ping your router (192.168.0.1) ?

is the SSID and channel set correctly (using the network config tool from the system menu?)
