Question ifup fails to bring up network device (RTNETLINK answers: Connection timed out)

Hi, I'm trying to set up the wireless network on a Vortex x86 based system.

I currently use a wireless Belkin F5D7050 USB dongle, which uses the zd1211rw driver. The driver came pre-installled with the operating system (Linux CrunchBang) and I installed the firmware via "apt-get install zd1211-firmware".

The device is listed in lsusb.
It isn't listed by "ifconfig" but appears as "wlan0" with "ifconfig -a"

When I try to bring the network interface up with "sudo ifup wlan0" is shows the following error: "RTNETLINK answers: Connection timed out".

I've tried adding the wlan0 interface to the /etc/network/interfaces file and rebooting the system, but the ifup output keeps being the same.

Any help is appreciated.
Sorry for the bad english (not my native language)

Hi GSM-02L,

Did you tried to find this error on Google ?

One of the few top links landed me here. Please check the error in dmesg.
