Driver for Plexus/Tenda W302p with Ralink RT2760 chipset? (RESOLVED, sort-of)

I've bought a Tenda W302p PCI card, and I'm trying to get it to work on my Debian Lenny system. No Linux drivers have been supplied, despite the seller (ebuyer) stating that it is Linux compatible.

When I run lspci the card is detected as follows:

Code:
01:02.0 Network controller: RaLink Device 0701
However, it doesn't get reported as an available connection for connecting to my wireless network.

Googling around, it seems the chipset is a Ralink RT2760. Ralink's own Linux drivers page doesn't appear to have a driver for this chipset, and I can't get module-assistant to compile the rt2x00 driver from the Debian repositories.

Any ideas welcome!

What's the problem with compiling? Did you install the headers for your kernel?

apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)

Can you run 'lspci -n' and match the PCI Bus ID and get the VendorID:ProductID - that will help us figure out if there is a driver and which one. The 'serialmonkey' people have taken on development of the RaLink drivers but I think there are only 2 active developers (and they are busy with other things as well) so progress is a bit slow. They've improved a lot on the original RALink code though, and I think RaLink provide them with information as they need it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It turns out it's the rt2860 not rt2760 driver, and I've ended up going down the ndiswrapper route for now. Will probably have another bash at the serialmonkey driver in due course, given that I'd rather use a free driver if possible. But for now I've got something that at least functions.

Stick with ndiswrapper for now; I don't think the serialmonkey code is at a stage where it can deal with that chip yet. In fact, the developers say the code isn't quite complete yet but welcome anyone who wants to test it.
