Activating a wireless network card

I am trying to activate my wireless network card but all I get is:
Determining IP information for wlan0... failed.

When I type iwlist wlan0 scan into Terminal this is what I get:

[root@localhost ~]# iwlist wlan0 scan
Warning: Driver for device wlan0 recommend version 18 of Wireless Extension,
but has been compiled with version 17, therefore some driver features
may not be available...

wlan0 Scan completed :
Cell 01 - Address: 16:36:74:F4:97:17
ESSID:"Bardells"
Protocol:IEEE 802.11b
Mode:Ad-Hoc
Frequency:2.462 GHz (Channel 11)
Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Encryption keyff
Bit Rate:1 Mb/s
Bit Rate:2 Mb/s
Bit Rate:5.5 Mb/s
Bit Rate:6 Mb/s
Bit Rate:9 Mb/s
Bit Rate:11 Mb/s
Bit Rate:12 Mb/s
Bit Rate:18 Mb/s
Extra:bcn_int=100
Extra:atim=0

As you can see I have turned off all Encryption and I have set Fedora up for Auto and Ad-Hoc and Auto also set the Network name (ESSID) up for Bardells
But I still get the same error when trying to adtivate it Determining IP information for wlan0... failed.

Has anyone any ideas??

A bit more info might be useful - what network card is it, what chipset does it use, what driver have used and which wireless wrapper have you compiled?

Okay, so assuming you followed the installation instructions from the ndiswrapper installation wiki, you should have done
Code:
ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
.Then, check it's the correct driver and working properly with:
Code:
ndiswrapper -l
If it's not working, you'll need to look at getting another driver and trying that. Otherwise, we can move on configuring it to connect in with your wireless network.
