3com 11g Officeconnect wireless card troubles

Ok I'll start by saying I'm a complete linux newbie so please go easy on me!

I've recently installed a Dell Inspiron 4000 with Ubuntu V.5.10, I have a succesful installation and can happily wander around the system taking a look at things. I decide I want to use this pc in my wireless network, I'll give you some details:

Currently I'm running 4 pc (all windows xp) wireless network using wanadoo livebox as my network server (DCHP) and as my internet gateway. On my linux laptop I have A 3com OfficeConnect Wireless 11g Pc Card V.2 SN: 3CRWE154G72. I have the driver disk but it's for windows!

How can I set up my laptop so it can access the network and the internet through my home network and if needed can I have it access friend's networks when I'm at their homes?

How do I do this? Thankyou for your help!

Regards sas01
