VB6.1.18 Extensions Install Error 127

On Slackware64-Current & VB-6.1.18

Code:
Failed to install the Extension Pack /home/dec/Downloads/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-6.1.18.vbox-extpack.

The installer failed with exit code 127: Error creating textual authentication agent: Error opening current controlling terminal for the process (`/dev/tty'): No such device or address.

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: ExtPackManagerWrap
Interface: IExtPackManager {70401eef-c8e9-466b-9660-45cb3e9979e4}
/dev/tty seems present & correct
Code:
bash-5.1$ ls -l /dev/tty
crw-rw-rw- 1 root tty 5, 0 Apr  6 09:27 /dev/tty
This isn't a 'bleeding edge' install of current, but an iso from 2021-02-11. There's probably some blindingly obvious gotcha I missed. But I don't see it, so you'll have to tell me

Well you gave no clue what's happend. Just posting error output is far not enough. I'll started to read help - but then realized - why should I read help for you? So , yeah I joked. I hope we will fix that in future.

For the record, I installed VB witb the run file, and tried the extensions with my browser. That vanished. Presuming an error, I tried with File/Preferences/Extensions, and that gave the error I posted. Then searching revealed one of my own threads about VB-6.1.4, so I tried
Code:
sudo VBoManage extpack install --replace {filename}
which worked. Apparently a permissions problem thar threw a misleading error.
