How to access shared documents between host and guest.
hello all,
I have linuxmint 10 as the host and installed virtual box in it.
I have chosen to include "/home/srikanth/documents" file to be sharable over for both windows7 and fedora10 which are guests but I don't know how to access them.
Also, I have enabled USB drive in settings but I can't access pendrive too.
You need Guest Additions added to use USB devices. Once that is installed, you can configure which devices owned by the host can be used by the guest system. There are check boxes to select each device. Once the device is in use by the a guest, the host can not use it, until you release it from the guest.
For sharing, I run a samba server on my host. On XP, I can browse to the shares, and drag and drop them into the windows system or to the linux host. I have not found a way from the linux side to move files to the virtual system. It may be possible, never found a way.
There are two versions of Vbox. I downloaded mine from Oracle. It allows me to add Guest Additions, the one from Mandriva in the repos did not allow Guest Additions. Don't remember the differences in the naming, but it mattered where I got Vbox from.
