Copied a KVM VM over from another computer and now it goes to grub rescue prompt

Done a ton of googling and nothing seems to be able to get it to fine the "normal" file. I tried running boot-repair-disk on a copy of the qcow2 file and that just effed it up further - at that point libvirt refused to start it - said it was corrupted. Or rather, first it gave me this:

http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/pYzSXrMXDP/

and then I went to advanced to try and force it and got this:

http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/dvM3Qfcn3b/

and after doing that, it was unrecoverable. I was running a MythTV backend server on there and while I haven't lost my recordings (those were on a physical drive), I would really like to get this running again. The hard drive I copied it off of has bitten the dust as I was trying to see if I could get another copy to see if that would run again.

Let me know what info you need from me and I'll plug away at the VM.

Thanks,

Maybe we need to reverse this and ask a few questions. Is the hardware and OS similar on this move? Did you do something like this to move? https://serverfault.com/questions/43...to-move-kvm-vm

Yes and Yes. All that changed was a fresh install of Fedora 29 vice once I've upgraded for years and it's on an SSD instead of a HDD.

Not sure what you ended up with. I'd think that moving between ssd and hd in this case wouldn't be an issue.

A QCOW2 file could have been opened a few ways. Guess trying a different way to open may help but I assume the file has been corrupted. I've taken qcow files and copied them raw to drives.

At this point I'm thinking of maybe mounting it onto another VM and pulling the data out.
