Question Cisco ASAv keeps rebooting

Hello all,

Installed Cisco ASAv (971) virtual appliance on ESXi 5.1 using VMware vSphere
Standalone Client and it keeps rebooting with the below error.

INIT: Id "adi" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: cannot execute "/tmp/run_cmd"

What could be the problem?

In the mean time, I checked online resources and as per the suggestions,
the default run level 5 of the host must be changed to 3.

Other issue I faced is…

I run SSH session to VMware ESXI 5.1 host using putty as the user root.

I’m not able to edit the /etc/inittab file on the host that I’m connected.

Accessed the ESXi host console directly also pressing ALT+F1 and logged in as root,
the same issue below is there.

Followed the VMWARE Knowledge base article kb.vmware.com/kb/1004015 but
nowhere close to see and edit the file. I’m stuck and need your input.

---below is the output ---

> /etc #
> vi /etc/inittab

::sysinit:/usr/lib/vmware/init/bin/create-busybox-symlinks.sh
::sysinit:/usr/lib/vmware/rp/bin/configRP init
#
::sysinit:/sbin/init-launcher
::wait:/sbin/services.sh start
::wait:/sbin/apply-host-profiles
::wait:/usr/lib/vmware/vmksummary/log-bootstop.sh boot
::wait:/sbin/vmdumper -g 'Boot Successful'
::wait:/bin/sh ++min=0,group=host/vim/vimuser/terminal/shell /etc/rc.loc
::wait:/sbin/esxcfg-init --set-boot-progress done
::wait:/sbin/vmware-autostart.sh start
tty1::respawn:/sbin/initterm.sh tty1 /sbin/techsupport.sh
tty2::respawn:-/sbin/initterm.sh tty2 /sbin/dcuiweasel
::restart:/sbin/init
::shutdown:/usr/lib/vmware/vmksummary/log-bootstop.sh stop
::shutdown:/sbin/shutdown.sh

Access to the directory is denied is the other issue

~ # /etc/inittab
-sh: /etc/inittab: Permission denied

Your help is highly appreciated.
