[SOLVED] Burning from VB

I am new to Linux and VB and need some help burning CDs and DVDs from VB.
Am using WinXP as the guest and have tried but cannot find an answer.
Is there one? I know I can transfer out to Linux and burn from there, but would much prefer to burn out of VB.

I haven't tried this myself so I can't say if it does work or not. Please post back and let us know.

I have installed version 4 of VB, not sure if that makes a difference, but there is no 'USB pass through' in my version, so this 'How to' doesn't work.

This issue is exactly why I chose to use QEMU rather than any other vm software. KVM/QEMU allows me to fully access USB attached devices.

This may not help you in this scenario but I wanted you to know this in case you decide to shop around for a new vm.

I can access all my USB in VB. But my DVD writer is not USB, so there is no point in changing horses.

The pass through you are looking for is under Storage. Select the cd/dvd drive in the Storage Tree window then look to the right, you will see the pass through option.

edit: I dont think the how-to is about writing via usb, although the title gives that impression. He is merely saying he is using the version of VirtualBox that has usb support out-of-the-box.

OK, took another look and found the 'pass through' sorry about that. The only problem, it made no difference. I have now tried a number of burning programs, none work. They appear to see the drive through from the host(selected in the bottom right hand corner of VB) but will not burn to the DVD writer.
I have access to USB and can write to them!
Still looking. Soon I'll give up on VB and dual boot, I know stuff works there.

I do a lot of Video to DVD editing in Windows, and it makes sense to burn out of those programs.
I did in fact find the answer. It involves looking more carefully at the settings area of VB, storage and 'pass through. Thanks to all who answered.
