So, I downloaded the build from
https://slackbuilds.org/repository/1...rk/zoom-linux/, and tried to build/install zoom on Slackware 14.2. Built okay, installed into /opt/zoom-linux. Ran /opt/zoom-linux/zoom, and it complained:
zoom: error while loading shared libraries: libcef.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So I modified LD_LIBRARY_PATH:
$ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/opt/zoom-linux/cef
Reran zoom. Now it complains:
zoom: error while loading shared libraries: libQt5QuickWidgets.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So I modified LD_LIBRARY_PATH again:
$ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/opt/zoom-linux:/opt/zoom-linux/cef:/opt/zoom-linux/Qt/lib
Reran zoom. Now it complains:
zoom: error while loading shared libraries: libxkbcommon.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Found this on a Kubuntu site, but not Slackware 14.2. Downloaded libxkbcommon-1.2.1.tar.xz, extracted its contents, and tried to build it. Looked at the README.md, and it uses tools called meson & ninja to do the build. Not familiar w/ these. Haven't tried installing meson, it will probably need me to install other libraries that it's dependent upon. Down the rabbit hole...
Totally frustrated!! Does anyone have a pre-built package for libxkbcommon that can simply be installed using 'installpkg'? Or, better yet, does anyone have a pre-built package for zoom on Slackware 14.2 that has all library dependencies resolved, and doesn't require building & installing numerous libraries, or defining LD_LIBRARY_PATH to be many different directories? I can see setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/local/bin:/opt/zoom-linux, but much more than that is painful...
Zoom used to work well on Slackware 14.2. Since they've required it to be updated, I can no longer get it built and/or working. Has anyone using Slackware 14.2 been able to build, install and run 'zoom'? I guess I'll be using the browser version of zoom for attending zoom workshops... BTW, I'm a retired software engineer who hasn't kept up w/ modern trends. (What the heck is 'meson'? Doesn't anyone use 'make' anymore??)
