Query regarding "Zoom in" and "Zoom Out" on Fedora-17

Hi all.

I just came across this link
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopi...f=218&t=101612, and thankfully and surprisingly, the solution worked in Fedora-17 !!!

I have two queries ::

a)
Is it possible to achieve this ia a non-gnome environment, using metacity window-manager?

b)
If yes, what package(s) is(are) required to achieve this?

I will be really grateful for any pointers, as I have been looking for long to have this feature working in a non-gnome environment.

Thanks and Regards,
Ajay

I researched, and found that Fedora-17 uses "mutter" window manager, with "gnome-shell" running as a plugin.
Also, I read that replacing "mutter" by "metacity" will in general cause system-crashes and unstability (confirmed on my system).

One thing, as per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...indow_managers, it seems that "metacity" may be used in both the "COMPOSTING" mode, as well as "STACKING" mode. So, is there a way to run "metacity" in "COMPOSTING" mode (which might then just make it possible to replace "mutter" with "metacity")?

Again, I will be thankful for any pointers.
