Xnest does not work: "Couldn't get keyboard"

When I try to run Xnest and then xterm inside, I get the following output:

$ Xnest -ac :1&
[1] 9741
Couldn't get keyboard.
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/TTF/, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/OTF, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/CID/, removing from list!

$ DISPLAY=:1 xterm
X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 45 (X_OpenFont)
Serial number of failed request: 61
Current serial number in output stream: 62
FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing.
Couldn't get keyboard.
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/TTF/, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/OTF, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/CID/, removing from list![/code]

xterm flashes up in the Xnest window, but then dissapears very quickly and the process dies.

What can I do about this? I've looked for similar problems on the internet and have not had any success.

I have exactly the same problem except I didn't try running xterm too.

Following the instructions here: http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/7298 , I issued Xnest :1 -ac & in a terminal. This is the terminal output:

dave@alicia-desktop:~$ Xnest :1 -ac &
[1] 5885
dave@alicia-desktop:~$ error opening security policy file /usr/lib/xserver/SecurityPolicy
Couldn't get keyboard.
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/TTF/, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/OTF, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/CID/, removing from list!
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).

There's no /usr/lib/xserver/, and no /usr/share/fonts/TTF, OTF, or CID.

PLEASE, someone, any help?

I am encountering this same error after running Xnest. Here's what I run.
Code:
Xnest :1 -ac &
xterm -display :1
I see the "Couldn't get keyboard" error.
I can type in xterm but the keyboard mapping is completely off.

Anybody have a fix?
