thanks, bro. But if you actually read the thread you'll see that flapjackboy and I have already dl'ed and untarred the file to the correct directory. At least, I have. I have also pointed the preset loader at the file in question. Now, what I don't get, in "Configure Equalizer" for Directory preset file (dir_default.preset) and "File preset extention" (preset), well, what is this dir_default.preset thing? We extract the file to the home directory, to .xmms - a hidden file that the loader in xmms doesn't see. Huh??
And another thing, it's supposed to be renamed when it's extracted to 'eq.preset', right? Then what's with dir_default.preset? I get that 'dir_default' might mean directory file '.xmms' to the program, but if the file is in the '.xmms ' directory then it should be loaded, right?
The file in my xmms home folder is named eq,preset. All I did was untar/extract it open xmms click Graphic equalizer>Import>WinAmp Preset and imported the file.
and it has you load the file to /usr/lib/xmms also. Still don't work for me. I'll get it in there--somehow. I'm thinking about using wine to setup winamp, then importing the presets that way. I can't find a EQ Preset file in a winamp .eqf anywhere, so far. I suppose they'd be there. Any body got a clicky link or a way to send 'em to a fella?
craig, you actually supplied the solution without knowing the answer. After all that, I dl'ed the file from your link (LinuxLoader) and started XMMS to find presets!!
Of course I had to know why... Open 'em up and compare. Seems MY particular XMMS prefers commas to periods as delimiters for the Preamp and Band0-9.
So, if your XMMS won't load presets and you have tried the eq.preset file FROM the XMMS site:
;
; WinAmp EQ presets for XMMS. converted by Urpo Lankinen <wwwwolf@iki.fi>
; Do whatever you want with these. I don't care. No warranty
; expressed or implied. (And if you blast your speakers with these.
; It's Nullsoft's fault anyway =)
;
linked above in craig's post and save the file linked there RIGHT TO the .xmms directory, open it with your favorite text editor and look for this header:
; This file must have no extention rename it to eq.preset
; WinAmp EQ presets for XMMS,
; Place this in the hidden xmms directory in your user directory like,
; /home/phil/.xmms
; open xmms and the equalizer presets should be there
