XMMS fonts Gdk-Error in Opensuse 11.0

Hello,

I upgraded from 10.3 to 11.0, and XMMS does not start anymore because of the following:

** WARNING **: Failed to open font: "-sgi-screen-medium-r-normal-*-*-140-*-*-m-*-iso8859-1".
Message: device: default
Gdk-ERROR **: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
serial 1594 error_code 8 request_code 72 minor_code 0
libxcb: WARNING! Program tries to lock an already locked connection,
which indicates a programming error.
There will be no further warnings about this issue.
Gdk-ERROR **: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
serial 1595 error_code 8 request_code 72 minor_code 0

Since I upgraded in place, and I don't know where it is looking for the above font, I suspect the fonts have been deleted.
I looked in the KDE font manager and the font libraries and they are the same as in my old system. (I back up all partitions to a second hard drive before updating).
Not sure where else to look and which file name to look for either.

running xmms 1.2.11
The config file has the following lines:
use_fontsets=TRUE
mainwin_use_xfont=TRUE
mainwin_font=-sgi-screen-medium-r-normal-*-*-140-*-*-m-*-iso8859-1

This ran fine in 10.3.

Thanks,
Joe.

The fonts are installed in /usr/share/fonts
You can run
Code:
xfontsel
to see if you have that specific font.
Anyway I don't think that this is your problem. I guess something went wrong during upgrade (may X libs) and you hit a known bug. You can follow the tips there and use
Code:
export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 && xmms
to run xmms.

Regards

Thanks,

That took care of the problem, and I can now enjoy my music again
