Question Xlib error

I just compiled a SDL/GL demo and got these runtime errors:

Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Video mode set failed: Couldn't find matching GLX visual

I haven't installed the nVidia drivers yet (GF2 type card), so you know. Slack 8.1 (2.4.18).

What do you think ?

compile the nVIDIA kernel module and use it. That worked fine for me, I had to do a:
make modules
make modules_install
in the /usr/src/linux dir to get them to work. Don't forget the NVIDIA_GLX-x.x.x.tar.gz package.
And some changes in your /etc/X11/XF86config that you can read about from nVIDIA's homepage: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=li...splay_1.0-3123
