XFCE maximize window over-maximizes beyond panel border

In XFCE, Slackware 14, when I maximize any window, it will maximize beyond the border of the panel at the bottom of the screen, hence there is content in the window I cannot see or interact with. This is extremely annoying and makes the maximize function useless. This happens both in cases where I use the maximize shortcut key as well as the widget on the top bar of the window to maximize (by clicking the widget).

Sorry I cannot help but it is worth noting the same happens to me( KDE PcLinuxOs ) could there be a link. more often with popup messages less often with programs, it is not repeatable.

Out of curiosity, does this behaviour persist if you shrink the size of a window when it is not maximised? It works for my web browser at least. I would also check the configuration settings. A feature might be enabled that ignores panels. (A shot in the dark.)

Sorry I don't understand the question. If I shrink the size of a window when it is not maximized? I don't see how the problem is related to arbitrarily changing the size of a window when it is not maximized.

I mentioned it, because with some WMs at least, windows for some applications do not obey the new size or location of a panel when maximised. If the height of the window is fitted within the panels when not maximised, they retain that measurement when maximised. I do not know if it will work in your case, but I mentioned it nonetheless.

It is still unclear to me exactly what you mean, but I can say this: If I adjust the size of the window by dragging the borders with the mouse, it will "stick" to the panel, as it should. It will also stick to the top and the sides of the display, such that I can "maximize it by hand" by dragging each of the borders to the respective edges of the screen. Doing this, I will get it maximized without going beyond the border of the panel at the bottom.
