I'm using Xbuntu in an old computer. The program for audio that is supplied with the OS doesn't read mp3 or mpeg. What should i do to make it read standard audio and video files?

These codecs, among others, are covered by patents and other IP factors that make them impossible to distribute in a free OS. But they can be installed separately by individuals.
